How long does therapy last?
How often and for how long we meet will be a mutual decision. When we first begin working together, and especially if you are feeling overwhelmed, once or twice weekly sessions may be helpful. Some issues can be resolved within a few sessions, while others will require more time.
Our first session will be an evaluation and will last 60 minutes.
After our initial meeting, sessions last 45-55 minutes, depending on what we agree is appropriate.
Some clients come into therapy to address a specific issue, meet that goal and then decide they wish to continue as broader targets emerge. Others taper down to less frequent meetings or end therapy because they feel they have met their goals. I will be checking in with you throughout our work together and we will end therapy when you decide you are ready.
